Faster's on a Mission
FASTER was established in August 2006 when I, John Hardy, became frustrated with the fitness industry's treatment of trainers and the impact that had on their clients. Driven by this dissatisfaction, I left the large education company I was working for and set up FASTER.
Since day one, the mission has remained the same:
"FASTER's mission is to bring quality training to all populations by educating, supporting, and promoting Personal Trainers and other movement coaches."
My philosophy has always been simple—if I can help a trainer make better decisions and build a thriving business, I indirectly help the 40+ clients they work with. This ripple effect drives everything I do.
I’ve intentionally avoided partnering with big companies, so I can run a business centred entirely around my students. I prioritise FASTER trainers over celebrity trainers, and I’ve consistently stood up to big industry institutions to protect and support my students. Staying at the forefront of new science and trends has always been a priority, so that FASTER trainers remain leaders in the fitness industry.
This mission isn’t just words to me; it’s my guiding principle, and I’ve backed it with actions every step of the way.
Since day one (back in November 2006, when I ran our first course in a garden in the Midlands), I’ve provided free, ongoing access to course content and updates. Trainers who attended courses over 10 years ago still return to access the latest material—without ever having to pay again.
With courses originally designed for Personal Trainers and Sports Performance Coaches, and shaped by my own background in both fields, I built FASTER to combine science with exceptional mentors—mentors that new students can one day become part of. While I own and run the company, I remain accessible to all my students.
FASTER stands for Functional Application of Science, Technology, Education, and Research. Even before lockdown (2012), I used platforms like Google Hangouts and Zoom early, helping trainers adapt and thrive by teaching them to deliver online sessions for a fee.
Each course has a WhatsApp group, and I connect trainers (with their permission) to share knowledge and opportunities. I’m always available to support FASTER students with industry connections, advice, research, clients, or simply a non-judgmental listening ear.
