Today's Two Posts Both Only Had To Be Solved Once, And PT Manager's Client Record Keeps It That Way

In short: Today's first post found that a client drops off for one of four reasons, physical, emotional, motivational or time, and the real one is only found by asking open questions in the consultation, never guessed at afterwards. Today's second post found that a client's movement doesn't need relearning from nothing for a new situation, because practice and feedback build it into a pattern the client already owns. Both posts are about an answer that only has to be found, or built, once. PT Manager's client record is where the found answer for the barrier actually lives afterwards, a note against the client rather than something the trainer has to remember or re-ask for at the next session.

Two posts, one answer that's only found once

A client's real barrier, physical, emotional, motivational or time, is found once, through open questions in the consultation, and today's first post is specific that guessing at it afterwards gets the wrong one. A client's movement schema is built the same way from the other side: practised and fed back until it's flexible enough to cover a situation the client has never faced, without starting again from nothing. Neither post is about redoing work. Both are about something that only has to be found, or built, the once.

Where the found half goes

Running a good consultation and then losing the answer is the same waste as making a client relearn a movement they already own. PT Manager's client record is where a trainer holds every client, every session, every note, so the barrier found in the first conversation is written down against that client rather than left to memory. Six weeks later, when the same client goes quiet, the note is still there to be read rather than re-asked for.

Two different jobs, the same discipline

The client's schema is theirs, built through their own practice. The barrier is the trainer's to hold, written down the moment it's found. PT Manager's coaching threads keep the second half in the same place the client sits, so a trainer picking up a session six weeks on is reading what was already found instead of guessing at it fresh, which is the exact mistake today's first post spends its whole length warning against.

Frequently asked

Does the client record write the note for the trainer?

No, a trainer writes it after the consultation finds it, the same way today's first post describes finding the real barrier through open questions.

Why bring up Schema Theory in a post about client notes?

Both are about work that only has to happen once, properly, rather than being redone from scratch every time it's needed. A schema is built once and adjusts itself; a barrier is found once and should be written down, not re-discovered.

Does this connect to today's earlier two posts?

Yes. The barriers post found the real reason a client drops off. The schema theory post found why a client's movement transfers to a new situation without starting over. The client record is where the trainer's half of that, what's already been found about this client, gets kept.
