PT Manager's Stopwatch And Measure Tools Let You Run The Same Client Test Again In The Same Way
From the FASTER syllabus: this article is taught in full in PT Manager, free with any FASTER course →

In short: A self-built client test only means something if it is run the same way each time. PT Manager's Live Analyser carries a timer that runs with the camera on or off and laps each split, and its video tools can set a scale from a known length and then measure a distance or a speed between two taps. A trainer who has built a test from the Movement Coach steps can time it, measure it and run it again with the same method. Today's first post covers the Level 3 SWOT criterion and the second covers building a client test. PT Manager is free and opens at sign-up.
A test is only worth its repeat
A trainer builds a test for a client: a short circuit, a jump, a carry over a marked distance. It works on day one. Six weeks later the same test is run with a slightly different start, a different stopwatch, a different spot on the floor, and the new number says nothing about the client.
Today's second post covers the Movement Coach steps for building a test, and its reliability principle says the same conditions must give a similar result. PT Manager is where those conditions get written down.
The timer that laps for you
The Live Analyser carries a timer for a hold, a set, a sprint or a work and rest block. It runs on its own, camera on or off, and laps each split. A trainer starts it once, runs the test, and reads every split afterwards without resetting anything between stations.
That removes the commonest reason for a number to drift: a hand fumbling a phone.
Measuring what the clock cannot
For a test with a distance or a speed in it, the video workspace has a scale tool. A trainer drags a line over something of known length in the frame, enters it, and then taps two points to read a distance in centimetres or a speed between two moments. A person's height in a standing frame is one such known length.
Marks land in an evidence strip beside the film, so the numbers from a run sit with the clip they came from. On-device, the film is not sent anywhere.
What it does not do
PT Manager does not line two tests up and compare them for the trainer. It times and measures each run and keeps the marks. The comparing is a trainer's job, and a short one when the method was the same.
How it ties to today's other two posts
The first post today covers the Level 3 business unit, criterion 5.3, where a new trainer writes a SWOT analysis before the first client. Its post is a good starting point for the trainer who has not yet got a test to run. The second is building a client test, from Movement Coach. This one is the stopwatch and the tape measure for it.
Two ways in
PT Manager opens the moment you sign up with FASTER, so you can set it up in your own name straight away. Adding real clients unlocks when you pass a course. Someone new to the industry gets it from the start through the Certified Personal Trainer route. A trainer who is already qualified comes in through Movement Trainer or any course above it, with no need to repeat Level 2 and 3. It is free, and nobody takes a cut of your sessions.

Does the timer need the camera?
No. The Live Analyser's timer runs on its own with the camera on or off, and laps each split.
Can PT Manager measure a distance in a video?
Yes, in the video workspace. A trainer sets a scale from a known length in the frame, then taps two points to read a distance or a speed.
Does PT Manager compare two tests automatically?
No. It times and measures each run and keeps the marks, and the trainer compares the numbers.
Do I need a course to try it?
PT Manager opens when you sign up with FASTER. Adding real clients unlocks when you pass a course.
